Chicken & Waffle in Edgewater?
How i got there. Promoting local small business is our objective at Flmarkets.us. Thing is for small business getting the word out is costly, developing a ad campaign and managing the results is also time consuming.
One thing about marking is promotion and it’s a hit or miss but if your product is good the task is made alot less difficult. Of course price is a big part of the marketing strategy also but this requires a balance. Knowing your intended customer base and targeting price can be easy in a growing economy but post covid and the current economic conditions makes this a bit more difficult.
Of course everyone sees the inflation in their spending, it’s not just the cost of gas anymore, food has been getting hit hard and it is having a big impact. It’s not just home expenses, many restaurants are struggling also tying to juggle employees and other expenses. Let’s face it, the past couple years have been hard on the working class.
Myself I don’t do dining out, it’s just a condition of dieting. I am a health nut and read and follow strict routines, the food I consume is from my own efforts. The quality and content of calories is alot eaiser to manage when the preparation is done by you. Sure it takes time but because I manage sugar and carbs I don’t have a choice but at times i like to reward myself.
I favorite go to place was Oceans seafood who had a out standing fish (mahi mahi) sand or salad but because of economics it closed. That left me pretty much without a special place, of course in edgewater we have the greatest pizza at Alberto’s so that has been my default until now.
How did it happen, I go to the gym every day and always have, one day I opened up to a guy hitting it pretty hard, i just made a recommendation that I had been doing no bread diet and it was working really good, his response was he was running a waffle and chicken place and it was hard to just quit the bread.
Now here’s the twist, this place Hill’s chicken and waffle is local. I was miffed cause i never heard of it and the combination of waffles and chicken is out standing, of course i don’t do alot of restaurant shout outs for reasons like the food just isn’t good or the experience not enjoyable. By now it should be evident that I find my best meals are things I prepare myself, and don’t underestimate the increadable meals you can create with local produce, way better than any establishment and half the costs, but of course there’s that reward system I have, I enjoy treading myself to a special treat for accomplishments or special occasions.
Now this would not be a post and no shout out if the meal was not right. But it was, infact it was levels better that expected. My first concern was it was going to be a let down, I walked in and ordered 2 meals to go. So I got eye balled by Chris and he came right over asking how he knew me. Maybe he thought I was hollywood but I cleared that up with the gym meet thing. I didn’t setup any review or ad meet I just wanted to try some chicken and waffles. When I returned home I left the food on the counter and got busy forgetting about it until my wife enlightened me she had taken a peek. I had not put alot of thought into it, it wasn’t a dinner date it was a food review.
Ok again this would not be a post on VolusiaMarket.com as a local business “Shout Out” if it didn’t hit the mark. In fact it raised the mark, In fact it was beyond what I was hoping. Are you starting to get what I am putting down. Grits, I love them but can’t make them, Hill’s Grits, Blue Ribbon. Waffles and chicken, man we have a special place in Edgewater Now.
If you know me or read my tec blogs you know I am a Jesus Man. The hidden special event here?
Chris is a Paster! Tell me how god works, waffles & chicken just by a chance encounter of love for a brother, maybe, but for me an opportunity to help support another local small business with a quality product!
